My Person
My name is Harry Stefan Barowski and I was born in 1967 in a small bavarian town called Neustadt a.d. Donau (which is located near the Danube). I think it was the best year of the last century - the year when the Beatles released their famous and fabulous album 'Sgt. Peppers lonely hearts club band'. You might have guessed - I am a real Beatles fan, especially a John Lennon fan. Two years later my parents decided to move to Regensburg (Ratisbona, capitol of the upper palatina) where we lived till 1977. So I went to grammer school there. Buying a house in Kelheim (about 20 km from Regensburg, located at the welknown Donaudurchbruch) we moved to that city. I went to high school there and finished it in 1987 with great success. My interests still where physics and mathematics. So I started studiing physics at the university of Regensburg (back again to Regensburg!). I am married since August 1999. I met my wife already in 1993, during the last weeks of my diploma thesis. Actually I'm not sure whether this helped me getting the work finished or whether it prolonged the time I spent on it. After my diploma thesis I worked on my PhD, my girl friend Petra still at my side. I am very proud of her, because I'm sure that she was a great help for me at some time and finally she was important for me for finishing the PhD thesis. After my PhD I accepted an offer from IBM to work in the development lab in Böblingen. Since then I'm working on microprocessor design for /390 mainframes. At the beginning of 1999 we decided to marry before the Y2K bug could destroy our beautiful world - well, don't take that too seriously ;-) My strongness and plusses are my great engagement, my flexibility and I am aiming high. But besides my work I still have a lot of hobbies, which are very important. I would say, I enjoy my life, whether I am at work or whether I enjoy music, films, a good lunch or sports. My greatest failure might be, that I always try to reach the best - and I can be impatient if this lasts too long... Hobbies My greatest hobby still is science - I love to be a physicist! But if you ask for real hobbies, the list might contain the following:
